The Mercedes S-Class in the fourth generation (2000-2006) was
definitely the non-fat version of its predecessor. Light and sleek
with several models to choose from, this generation of Mercedes S-Class
is a treat. A couple of models to consider are the V12 powered S600
with 362 horsepower and the S350 which has a 6 cylinder engine with 241
horsepower. If the S600 from 2001 doesn't suit then you can always
consider the S600 from 2003 which has a bit of a boost in horsepower
coming in at 493 horsepower. Perhaps the most popular car of this
generation is the S65 AMG which gives 604 horsepower with a spacious
interior and amazing safety features.
The third generation of
Mercedes-Benz S-Class ran from 1992-1999. It is considered one of the
big steps for Mercedes-Benz up the luxury ladder. Dual pane windows
and V12 engines caused this generation to gain almost 600 pounds when
compared to the previous generation.
The Mercedes-Benz second
generation S-Class was during the years 1981-1991 and were offered with
turbodiesel, inline-6, and V8 engines. As always, Mercedes-Benz is on
the cutting-edge of safety-technology with their antilock brakes and
airbags being made standard equipment on all vehicles of this class.
If you have the good fortune to find a diesel from this generation grab
it and hold on like never before. With the almost magic longevity of
these cars you shouldn't be surprised if you find 300,000 miles or more
on the mileage.
When we say that Mercedes-Benz sets the bar for
large luxury sedans, we mean it and that doesn't just include their new
models. The S-Class is especially desirable when it comes to pre-owned
Mercedes with spacious comfortable interiors and durability that meets
every pothole in the mechanical world with barely a bump.
